For compliance-led practices · Practice owners and partners
A practical first step towards more proactive client support
You already hold useful financial data for your clients. CORE Insights can help you decide where a conversation may be valuable, without asking the firm to launch a complete advisory service at once.
The question for your practice
“How do we become more proactive when our team is already busy with compliance work?”
Start with five suitable clients, not a new service launch. Connect clients with permission and reasonably current records, review the portfolio, and investigate one finding with the person who knows that business. If it holds up, arrange one useful conversation. You can decide what further support is appropriate afterwards.
A way to approach it
The challenge
A partner may know which clients are under pressure, while other changes remain hidden until year end or until a client asks for help. A new advisory ambition can feel too large when there is no clear way to choose where to begin.
The first decision
Start with a small, suitable group of connected clients. Review the portfolio for changes in performance and potential opportunities, then choose the few findings worth checking in more detail. The aim is a sensible shortlist for professional review, not a promise that every client needs a new service.
The conversation
A Business Overview Report and the client detail can help an adviser explain what appears to have changed. Check the underlying data and the business context before contacting the client. A useful first conversation may simply clarify the issue and agree whether further work is needed.
Practical questions, answered
How do we choose the first five clients?
Choose clients with usable, current accounting data and a relationship owner who can check the context. Include a mix of businesses you know well enough to sense-check the findings; do not treat the highest score as an automatic invitation to contact someone.
What if the bookkeeping is incomplete?
Check the period and underlying entries before drawing a conclusion. If the data is unreliable, resolve that issue or defer the finding. The tool gives a reason to investigate, not a diagnosis.
Do we need an advisory package first?
No. A checked finding can lead to a simple question or review meeting. Agree any further analysis, service and fee only when the client’s need is clear.
