Two-Factor Authentication
Two-Factor Authentication provides an added level of security to prevent anyone else from being able to access your account.
Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
At present you can choose whether to enable Two-Factor Authentication. As of 6th May 2024 this will become mandatory and you will be prompted to setup Two-Factor Authentication on login if you have not already done so.
- Login to VFD Pro as normal
- Go to My Account
- Click on ‘Setup Application’
- Enter your Password as requested
- Open your preferred authentication application on your mobile or desktop device and add a new account, then scan the QR code or enter the text code.
Note: If you are not already using an authentication application, you will be able to find one in your preferred application store e.g. Apple App Store, Play Store etc.
- Enter the Verification Code provided by the app
- Click ‘Verify’
- Next you will be provided with 10 recovery codes. These allow you to access your account if you are unable to access your authenticator app e.g. if your device has been lost/broken.
Note: These codes should be stored securely. - Click ‘Complete’ to finish your setup.
Reset Application
This feature can be used if you need to setup the authentication on a new device e.g. if you get a new phone.
- Login to VFD Pro as normal
- Go to ‘My Account’
- Click on ‘Reset Application’
- Enter your Password as requested
- You can now enable Two-Factor Authentication as shown above.
View/Regenerate Recovery Codes
Recovery codes can be used to allow you to access your account if you are unable to access your authenticator app e.g. if your device has been lost/broken.
‘View Codes’ will allow you to view the codes available. Each code can only be used once after which it will be removed from the list.
If you have used all your codes, or your existing codes are no longer secure, you can use the ‘Re-generate Codes’ button to generate new codes. This will also disable past codes.
